2023 Notice of Proposed Property Taxes

Our friends at the Property Appraiser’s Office have mailed out the 2023 Notice of Proposed Property Taxes (Truth in Millage-TRIM notice). The notice provides important information about the value of your home and property as well as exemptions. As a reminder, the County of Alachua and local governments set the tax rate/millage.  The Property Appraiser sets the assessed value of the properties to which the tax rate is applied. The Tax Collector mails the tax bills in November and is responsible for collecting the taxes and distributing them to the various entities. Questions regarding the proposed value or exemptions for your property should be addressed with the Property appraiser’s office immediately.  Public hearings to adopt the proposed tax rates will take place in September. Those dates/locations are listed on the TRIM notice.
