Strike Out Hunger Success!

THANK YOU TEAM!  We did it again!!  Together we collected 8 overstuffed boxes of non-perishable food to help needy families in our community.  Many of the local food banks run out of food to give to families this time of year, so this food replenishes the food banks and the pantries.  Thanksgiving baskets were also provided to over 600 qualified households!

As he does every year, John purchased lunch for the staff of volunteers and delivered it to the fairgrounds.  We all have so much to be grateful for, including our generous work family!  Happy Thanksgiving!

Tools for Schools; Helping Teachers and Children in Our Community.

Once again our team has come together to provide assistance to another local organization in need! The Alachua County Tax Collector’s office participated as a local drop off center for the Alachua County Tools for Schools campaign. Tools For Schools is a reusable resource center located in Alachua County, Florida, providing new and gently used educational supplies to Alachua County Public School teachers at no cost. The Tax Collector’s office raised over $400 in cash and supplies combined. Many thanks to all who donated to help the teachers and children in Alachua County.

Tax Collector’s Office Partnering with United Way to Support the 2017 Amazing Give

The Alachua County Tax Collector’s Office is partnering with United Way to support the 2017 Amazing Give.

The Amazing Give will raise money for local nonprofits through a single online donation platform, providing a simple way to connect donors to the charitable causes they care about most and encourage them to take action. One of the pillars of the Community Foundation of North Central Florida’s mission is to promote and sustain philanthropy in our community. This 24-hour online fundraising effort hosted by the Community Foundation of North Central Florida with the help of sponsors, will offer our area of nonprofits the chance to raise funds to support their critical missions.

Tax Collector John Power says, “I can think of no other community organization with the reach and impact than the United Way. Every dollar is vetted, leveraged and when directed by the donor, stays local.  Please consider making a charitable donation where it counts most — in your own backyard!”

United Way of North Central Florida supports more than 30 deserving non profits… many you’ve heard of and probably support yourselves. #LiveUnited and on March 29th, if not in the days leading up the to Amazing Give, reach out and give back!
